Recycle Rewards refund points continue to be rolled out across Tasmania, with the first two bulk depots now open in the north of the state at Waverley in Launceston and Somerset in Burnie.
These under-cover bulk depots are capable of processing serious volumes of eligible drink containers, marking a significant step towards sustainable resource recovery and waste management for Tasmanians. With a processing rate of 200 containers per minute, they will be of particular interest to super collectors and businesses with large volumes of eligible containers. You can also watch the sorting in action, which is the first step in creating clean streams of recyclable materials.
Operated and staffed by the Launceston City Mission, the new depots provide employment opportunities as well as much needed revenue to fund vital programs and services that transform the lives and futures of at-risk Tasmanians.
