Recycle Rewards refund points continue to be rolled out across Tasmania, with disability employment social enterprise SEED celebrating the official launch of the Recycle Rewards Goodwood Depot.
The Goodwood depot is the first to open in southern Tasmania and allows for the bulk return of eligible drink containers. Capable of processing 100 containers per minutes, the Goodwood depot is undercover and located just off the Brooker Hwy at the end of Hornby Road, making it a convenient location for businesses and individual super collectors to return their eligible drink containers.
TasRecycle CEO Ken Roughley said, “This collaboration with SEED is a terrific example of the extended community benefit potential of Tasmania’s container refund scheme. The Recycle Rewards Goodwood Depot provides employment, training and fundraising opportunities for people with disabilities – all while creating clean streams of recycling and helping keep our beautiful state in a beautiful state.”
Network operator TOMRA Cleanaway CEO James Dorney backed up the sentiment: “The overall sustainability achievement through our partnership with SEED cannot be understated: jobs for vulnerable community members, refunds into the back pockets of Tasmanians and less litter and landfill locally. What an exceptional outcome!”
