Participants in the scheme
Tasmania’s container refund scheme (Recycle Rewards) is made possible with the participation of industry partners such as beverage suppliers (First Responsible Suppliers), the Network Operator, Exporters, Material Recovery Facility (MRF) operators, the Tasmanian Government and the Tasmanian community. As we bring Recycle Rewards to life, it is important our partners have the information they need to get set up.

Community
We are proud to provide the opportunity for all Tasmanians to take part in Recycle Rewards. We work closely with local charities and community groups looking to fundraise through Recycle Rewards, helping to change our state for the better.
First Responsible Suppliers
We work with businesses supplying drinks in eligible containers – whether manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers or retailers – to participate in the scheme. The role of the First Responsible Suppliers within Recycle Rewards is to fund the scheme operations.
Network Operator
The Network Operator is responsible for managing the refund points and ensuring returned eligible containers are recycled. The Network Operator is TOMRA Cleanaway.
Exporters
Some businesses buy eligible drink containers within Tasmania and supply the drink containers to another business outside of the state. These businesses are treated as exporters within the container deposit scheme. Exporters can claim a rebate for these containers.
Material Recovery Facilities
Material recovery facility (MRF) operators registered within the scheme claim processing refunds for eligible containers collected through kerbside recycling bins across the state.
Government Regulator
The Tasmanian Government’s role is regulatory and providing general oversight of the scheme, which includes contract management and policy setting of the scheme.
