Who is TasRecycle?

TasRecycle Limited is a not-for-profit entity established by Asahi Holdings (Australia) Pty Ltd, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Australia Pty Ltd and Lion Pty Ltd. TasRecycle has been established to work with the Tasmanian Government to deliver the Scheme Coordinator role for Recycle Rewards.

Asahi Beverages, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners and Lion have extensive experience in managing Container Refund Schemes across Australia, with one or more of the companies involved in every Australian jurisdiction with a Container Refund Scheme.

OUR MISSION

We seek to make TASMANIA a leader in beverage container recycling

reducing the amount of beverage containers in litter and landfill, whilst adding value to our local communities, businesses and the environment.

What We Do

We help keep beverage containers out of landfill

At TasRecycle we are motivated to reduce Tasmania’s litter of drink containers by up to half, create new economic opportunities, generate new jobs and turn drink containers into new recycled products.

As the appointed Scheme Coordinator for Tasmania’s Container Refund Scheme (Recycle Rewards), we work with government and our partners to build and operate a large-scale drink container recycling network, a key step in transforming Tasmania’s waste and recycling system. Through a 10c refund for every eligible container returned, we encourage Tasmanians to collect and recycle their drink containers, making a positive difference to our people, environment and local industry.

Our objectives are:

Increase recovery and recycling of empty beverage containers

Reduce the number of empty beverage containers that are disposed of as litter or landfill

Ensure that First Responsible Suppliers of beverage products take product stewardship responsibility

Provide opportunities for social enterprise and benefits for community organisations

Create opportunities for employment

Complement existing collection and recycling activities for recyclable waste

Examples of beverage containers that can be recycled through Recycle Rewards are:

Soft drink cans and bottles

Bottled waters, both plastic and glass

Small, flavoured milk drinks

Beer and cider cans and bottles

Sports drinks and spirit-based mixed drinks

OUR PEOPLE

At TASRECYCLE, our people have come together with a common purpose

to build a successful container refund scheme that is projected to significantly reduce litter and the proportion of beverage containers sent to landfill.

It takes a large network to do this effectively, and that’s why our people are good at partnering with others to achieve great results. We have a clear vision and are building a team of action-orientated specialists who share a common passion to make real environmental impact, and have the skills and experience to build a world-class CRS for Tasmania.

Our goal is to be a leading player in our field, achieving outstanding results in the percentage of containers recycled through the scheme.
